The Christmas Season is one of renewal and celebration. Advent marks the coming of Jesus the Christ, as well as the beginning of the new year. It is the spirit of anticipation, preparation and longing. St James will be celebrating Advent on Monday of each week. Classes will be responsible for the ceremonies, that will culminate with our Christmas Pageant and Mass on December 16, 2009 Monday, December 7, will be introduced by Grade 4, December 14, will be presented by Grade 1, and Grade 6 will conduct the final ceremony on December 22. The formal ceremony is highlighted by the lighting of the candle, and a short prayer. Parents of participating students are invited to attend. |

Book Fair, Conferences & Report Cards |
|
Report Cards will be sent home on December 2, 2009 This is our first view of students grades. Parents will also be receiving the Iowa Testing results with the report card. Hopefully all questions and concerns can be addressed at conference time.
All parent conferences are arranged by appointment. There will not be school for students on December 4. Please return the schedule as soon as possible so that staff will have time to coordinate family appointments. Extended-Day will be available free for parents needing a place for children during the conferences. They will not be open for full-time care.
The Scholastic Book Fair Company has provided excellent books and game choices for students and adults during this book fair. Please come in an browse at conference time. This is a good opportunity to find some Christmas gifts.

Thank you for your contributions to the Assisi Food Pantry. Our dress down collection netted many items for those in greatest need. St. James School and the Student Council will help to provide and deliver Thanksgiving Baskets to over 300 families. Without the support of St. James Church and our students, this drive could not be possible . |

SNOW CALL ANNOUNCEMENTS |
|
· In the event of snowstorms or other inclement weather which would delay or close school, Saint James will follow the procedure of the Killingly Public Schools. · Announcements are made over the local radio and television stations as well as the Killingly Public Access channel. A 90-minute delay will be announced first, so it is important that you stay tuned in case the delay is changed into a cancellation. In the event of a school cancellation, the last day of school will be extended by one day. · A 90-minute delay will mean that school begins at 10:00. It also means that extended day will not open until 8:30. · In the event that weather conditions require it, a decision to dismiss school early can be made. Normally, that decision will be made no later than 10:30 A.M. based on the best weather information. Again local media will be contacted so that parents are informed . Again please note that we follow the Killingly Public Schools announcement.
· As soon as our AlertNow System has the corrected phone numbers in place -a call will be made directly to your home on both 90 minute delay days and cancellations |

Thank you for your support of the Book Fair and attending Parent Conferences. |
